Kim Junmo writing for OhmyNews stated that the film has a message and the attributes of a romantic comedy. Kim wrote, "as it is a story about the minority taste of BDSM, the difference between likes and dislikes is a limitation of this film." Kim opined, "the barrier to entry is high. Above all, scenes containing BDSM's actions are the core of sympathy between the two main characters, but it is difficult to universally provide emotional pleasure, catharsis, and excitement."[12] Kate Sánchez rated the film with 8.5 out of 10 and wrote, "Love and Leashes is sweet and sensual. It's a wholesome look at boundaries and love while also taking time to explore kink in a context that doesn't treat it as something dangerous or abnormal... one of the best representations of kink I've seen in a film."[13] Ricardo Gallegos of La Estatuilla praised the performances of Seohyun and direction stating, "Park Hyun-jin does a good job of weaving the threads of the story together and adding a touch of respectful humor to the story's development." Concluding Gallegos wrote, "Although "Amarrados al amor" manages to use classic and conventional elements of the romantic comedy genre, it stands out thanks to its sweet handling of the central relationship, the sensuality that it transmits in its exploration of sexual freedom and its honest intentions to inform and break taboos."[14]
Our Call: STREAM IT. Love and Leashes cleverly subverts the rom com formula even as it tows the genre line, giving it a streak of unpredictability to match its goodhearted message about love in the modern world.

I have to check myself in this: is it a black comedy because it explores a topic that might be considered taboo? BONDing was another Netflix original that came out a few years ago. While the first season was criticized for harmful representation of the community, it was indeed another form of media that opened the topic up. There are two things to Love and Leashes that I admit not having an encompassing knowledge about: BDSM and K-dramas. But here we are, and I probably really speak for myself in saying that the movie approaches the topic more respectfully than I could imagine, while keeping the charms and trinkets of humanistic love and pitfalls in a blossoming romance. I thought I would avert my eyes a lot more, but this shit is pretty cute.

The sexual tension that you would think exists in a film about BDSM is actually far more touching and poignant than expected simply because it is clear that Ji-woo is attracted to Ji-hoo in a romantic, falling-in-love kind of way when Ji-hoo believes Ji-woo could never feel that way towards him (due to his proclivities) and thus views their relationship as a business contract.
Alternatively, two actresses that have worked together and you would love to see them on screen again. Or two actresses that you think SHOULD work together cause they are just that amazing and your brain would combust from the mere thought.
This topic just fascinates me, in an unprofessional just a pet-lover sort of way. I think I have already made oxytocin my drug of choice. On a related note, there was recently an article in the New York Times discussing the fitness benefits of walking with a dog as opposed to a human companion. The participants were all residents of assisted living communities. Some walked with a human companion, while others were bussed to an animal shelter where they were assigned a dog to walk. The dog walkers were more consistent in their walking, and their speed in walking increased. -best-walking-partner-man-vs-dog/?em 781b155fdc
